All are white light images (no color filters used yet).

The M13 image is globular cluster (few 100,000 old stars, bound to but outside the plane of our galaxy).

The M17 image is a nebula called the Swan Nebula.

The Mrk501 is more boring, the object at the center is a supermassive black hole (quasar) called MRK 501. If you squint, you can see some nebulosity around it which is the galaxy hosting the black hole.Tiffany Watkinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01133230603401430820noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8463444948201453283.post-60288214476865695002010-07-22T17:12:00.000-07:002010-07-22T17:16:15.801-07:00Quick links to Important info! Please let me know if you have questions about any of these downloads!

image j software download link:

http://rsbweb.nih.gov/ij/download.html

VNC tight link:

http://www.tightvnc.com/

Stellarium Software download link:

www.stellarium.orgTiffany Watkinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01133230603401430820noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8463444948201453283.post-48216815633553627862010-07-18T14:31:00.000-07:002010-07-18T14:36:21.091-07:00I-STEM ConferenceWe are getting ready for the I-STEM conference in Twin Falls (http://www.sde.idaho.gov/site/istem/teachers/teacherForm.htm).

Getting excited to share all of the wonderful ways to integrate a hands-on astronomy approach to your curriculum.Tiffany Watkinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01133230603401430820noreply@blogger.com0
