new photos!




Just thought I would show you some images we took a couple weeks ago with the observatory. All are white light images (no color filters used yet).

The M13 image is globular cluster (few 100,000 old stars, bound to but outside the plane of our galaxy).

The M17 image is a nebula called the Swan Nebula.

The Mrk501 is more boring, the object at the center is a supermassive black hole (quasar) called MRK 501. If you squint, you can see some nebulosity around it which is the galaxy hosting the black hole.
